The list of Highly Cited Researchers identifies pioneers in their respective fields who repeatedly demonstrated significant and broad influence by publishing multiple highly cited papers in the past decade. PROXIDRUGS speaker Ivan Đikić is honored for generating exceptional impact in two fields, “Biology and Biochemistry” and “Molecular Biology and Genetics”. PROXIDRUGS project leader Stefan Knapp is honored as Highly Cited Researcher for cross-field performance. Knapp's and Đikić's papers in these fields rank in the top 1% by citations, based on citations as recorded in Web of Science. For 2021 all publications between 2010 and 2020 were considered.
This year, a total of 6,602 researchers worldwide was selected, 331 of whom are based in Germany. The global pole position is traditionally taken by Harvard University, this year followed closely by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
